Christine's History with Horses
![]() |
Joker Christine has been involved with horses since age seven. She participated in English riding lessons several days a week riding an 11.3 hand bay pony named Joker. At age nine, her parents purchased Joker for her to have as her own. Christine and Joker spent many hours riding the trails, jumping the fences used by the Smithtown Hunt, cantering along the beach at the Long Island Sound, swimming at a local harbor, competing in local shows, gymkhanas and parades. |

Bit o' Blue When she grew too large for Joker, he was handed down to Christine's sister, Wendy, and Christine got a small horse (14.3 hands) named Blue. Wendy and Christine rode Joker and Blue through the miles and miles of trails that used to navigate through the North Shore of Long Island. Much of this land is now developed into housing. Christine and her sister were both active in the 4-H St. James Hobby Horses and helped organize small horse shows for the members. |

Sea Spray While in college, Christine took a break from horses but not for long. In 1998, she purchased her horse, Sea Spray, a 16.2 dark dapple grey Irish Draught/Thoroughbred gelding. Christine and Sea Spray competed at the Preliminary level in the sport of eventing throughout New York and New England. Sea Spray died prematurely and unexpectedly on April 3, 2005; he was a star in life and now is a star shining brightly from the sky and the heavens. Christine

Penny Scoville Christine's most recent equine partner is Penny Scoville, a 15.3 hand chestnut Trakehner mare. Christine has been training Penny for eventing since 2005 and Penny has proven to be a go-getter on course! Penny is an athletic horse who loves attention! Note: "Scoville" is the unit of measurement to determine the hotness of chili peppers. It captures Penny's spirit well. |
